Masada Sunrise Tour

Masada at Sunrise

As the sun slowly begins to peek over the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the vast desert landscape, you’ll find yourself on a journey unlike any other.

Masada is one of the most historical and beautiful destinations in Israel. To experience Masada at sunrise is something you will cherish for years, and it truly is a once in a lifetime experience.

Our Masada sunrise tour starts with a pick-up from either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, depending on your preference. Once you arrive at the bottom of Masada mountain, it’s time to begin the hike to the top. As you make your way up, the stillness of the desert morning is only broken by the crunch of your footsteps on the rocky terrain. You’ll see the stars slowly fade away as the sky transforms into a beautiful canvas of pink, orange and yellow. It’s an extraordinary desert sunrise over the Dead Sea that can only be seen from the right place at the right time.

As you reach the top, you’ll be able to take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding desert landscape. Some free time is given to wander around and explore the site, get ready to brush up on your history by digging deeper into the stories behind Judaean king Herod the Great and what led him to construct this complex on the tops of the mountain. By being there in person you’re able to soak in the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and appreciate the rich history that surrounds it.

After spending some time at the top, it’s time to head back down and transfer to Ein-Gedi Nature Reserve. Known for its premier hiking spots, spectacular beauty, varied landscapes, and botanical gardens, Ein-Gedi is a green paradise in the middle of the desert. With waterfalls, springs, and pools of crystal-clear water that will refresh you, it’s the perfect spot to relax after your hike up Masada.

After the beauty of Ein-Gedi, it’s time to head off to experience the wonders of the Dead Sea. As the lowest point on earth, and one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, it’s quite the experience to bathe and float the afternoon away. The water of the Dead Sea contains 26 beneficial minerals, and many people rub themselves with the black mud found at its banks, which is said to relieve different skin issues.

The sunrise tour up Masada is a truly unforgettable experience that you don’t want to miss. It’s so much more than just Masada, it’s a chance to see the desert in a new light, to connect with nature and to experience the magic of Ein-Gedi, and to experience the Dead Sea in all its glory.
