Visit the holy city of Jerusalem most significant sites at your own pace with the convenience of a private tour guide that will show you around and take you just where you want to go.
We start the tour with a magnificent panoramic overview of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, which according to tradition is the place from which Jesus ascended to heaven.
We visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed and his followers slept during the night before the crucifixion, as well as the Church of All Nations, also known as the Church or Basilica of the Agony.
Next stop is the Old City of Jerusalem, where we walk the ancient streets and explore the Jewish, Armenian, Muslim and Christian quarters. Some of the highlights include the Via Dolorosa Street and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We also visit the Kotel (Western Wall), Judaism’s most significant site and the vibrant market, rich with colors, flavors and smells.
From the old city we continue to the new city of Jerusalem where we drive through significant landmarks including the President’s Residence, the Israeli parliament or “Knesset”. At the Knesset we see the Knesset Menorah, an artistic gift from the British parliament, engraved with 30 important events, expressions and characters from Jewish history.
We end the tour at the Israel Museum, where you can see a model of Jerusalem in the era of the Second Temple, also the time of Jesus. At the museum we find the ancient Dead Sea scrolls on display, a collection of 981 texts dated between 408 BCE and 318 CE. The scrolls contain invaluable insights into the ancient sect of the Essenes and include the oldest copy of the Old Testament.
