Tour Description

This tour of northern Israel includes regional highlights such as the ancient Roman city of Caesarea, Haifa Acre, Nazareth, Tiberius and the Sea of Galilee. This is a two-day tour, giving you time to really explore this historic and beautiful region of Israel. It is also possible to split the multi-day tour into two seperate day tours in north Israel: Caesarea, Haifa, Acre and Rosh Hanikra and followed by Nazareth, Tiberius and the Sea of Galillee tour.   Day 1: Caesarea, Haifa, Acre & Rosh Hanikra
We begin our journey traveling north towards Caesarea, the ancient Roman port city, built by Herod, where we enjoy a walking tour through the impreremains, such as the theatre, hippodrome, and other archaeological ruins. Leaving Caesarea, we head north for a scenic view of the modern port city of Haifa, from atop Mount Carmel and the city’s Bahai Gardens.

Continuing northwards, we drive to Rosh Hanikra, situated on the very border with Lebanon. In Rosh Hanikra we take a cable car to visit the special limestone grottos, shaped by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

Heading back south from Rosh Hanikra, we visit Acre, bustling with history and feeling. We visit Acre’s Crusader underground city and crypt, and walk through the Old City market, bustling with smells, flavors and atmosphere.

We stay overnight in a comfortable accommodation in the north.

Day 2: Nazareth, Tiberias & Sea of Galilee
After a day at the northern port cities, we head inland on our second day. Travelling through the plain of Armageddon we reach the city of Nazareth. In Nazareth we visit the Church of Annunciation, in the lower level of which is contained the Grotto of the Annunciation, which is believed by Catholics to be the remains of Mary’s childhood home. We also visit the Church of St. Joseph’s Carpentry, believed to be the sight of Joseph’s carpentry workshop.

From Nazareth we proceed via Kafer Cana for a view of the Mount of Beatitudes, where, according to tradition, Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Then, at nearby historical Tabgha, located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, we visit the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish. The Church stands on the sight of a 4th century church, and preserves a beautiful early-Christian mosaic. We then visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue of Capernaum and the city of Christ. Driving past Tiberias, we proceed to the site of baptismal on the Jordan River.

We return to end our journey through a scenic view of Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration.
